skin needling

What is Skin Needling?

Skin needling is a new technology that has been derived from ancient acupuncture techniques combined with modern Mesotherapy practice and cosmetic/plastics medicine. It is a non-invasive procedure that incorporates a process of a roller with microscopic needles between 0.15mm to 2.0mm long depending on the device used. As the needles are rolled over the skin, tiny punctures are created within the epidermis and dermis that encourage the skin’s own natural response.

What is it used for?

Skin rejuvenation, collagen induction therapy, treatment of stretch marks, acne scarring, hyper-pigmentation, wrinkles and hair loss therapy.

How does it compare to other skin rejuvenation techniques?

In contrast to other ablative techniques such as Lasers and Fractional Laser treatments, skin needling stimulates new tissue formation and the skin remains intact. The skin does not get damaged and therefore will not go into a wound healing response. Skin needling significantly improves atrophic scars & improves skin texture.

Does the procedure hurt?

The skin is numbed with an appropriate numbing cream so it is not painful.

What is the downtime after a skin needling treatment?

The inflammatory reaction of the skin is extremely short and fades significantly within hours from redness to pinkish that may last for 12 to 24 hours on average.

What results can I expect to see?

Results may be seen even after one treatment. Patients report a radiantly firmer, even-toned, more revitalised skin with a visible decrease in the appearance of wrinkles, pigmentation, sun damage, acne, enlarged pores and scarring.

How many treatments will I need?

Depending on the appropriate course prescribed by your Aesthetician, you may require anywhere between 3-8 treatments with 6-8 week intervals between visits.

How much does it cost?

Your Aesthetician will recommend a complete course of treatment for you including the costings at the time of your consultation.
